Apple is introducing Night Shift Feature to new Mac OS Sierra. Even though this is is a simple feature, this is going to save your eyes if you are sitting behind the screen for a long time at your work or home. Here we are going to introduce a Night Shift Software solution for the user those. Night Shift is a feature meant to help reduce eye strain during the evening hours and was first introduced by Apple on the iPhone and iPad with iOS 9.3 in 2016. Now, Night Shift is making its way to the Mac with the new macOS 10.12.4 update, which you can currently test in public beta. Find the troubleshooting help and refix the issue related to night shift not working on Mac Mojave 10.14.4, MacBook, MacMini or iMac. A new feature in Mac OS X Sierra is the night shift mode that helps users to good experience in low light or work at night. Explain it full guide in my last tutorial.
If you use an external monitor for your Mac of any shape or size and recently updated to macOS Sierra 10.12.4, chances are you've had some trouble with Night Shift.
Common issues include:
- the inability to configure Night Shift from your external monitor
- Night Shift being impossible to disable (as a result of the former)
- a substantial loss of colour quality (as a result of both of the former happening at once on some connection or screen types, most commonly DVI-D to VGA, DisplayPort, and LCD screens of all kinds.)
How do you get past these issues? Is there a way to enable access to the Night Shift pane on any display?

Unplug the cable and insert it again.
It works for me.

After two days of searching, I've found a solution that allows users to get past the Night Shift incompatibility issues with external monitors. This solution helps to enable access to Night Shift on any display. Mcculloch eager beaver parts diagram.
- Connect your external monitor, disable your internal monitor, and make sure your external monitor is set as the default.
- Download required files. You will need two programs (and a third optional) to proceed. The first is FixEDID, which can be found here: FixEDID, the second is DarwinDumper and can be found here: DarwinDumper, and the final (optional) one is KextWizard, found here: KextWizard
- Open FixEDID, wait for the fields to auto-load, and minimize FixEDID, do not close it.
- Open DarwinDumper, click Deselect All, check the EDID box, and click Run. You will be prompted for your password, and the dump directory will auto-open when it is done. Close DarwinDumper, and copy EDID.bin to your desktop.
- Unminimize FixEDID, click Open EDID Binary File, select your EDID.bin. Now in the drop down menu under that button choose the internal monitor for your model of Mac (this will usually be the first option), and click the Make button. You should have a few new files now, but you can ignore all of them except DisplayMergeNub.kext, which you will need.
- (Kext Wizard Version) Open Kext Wizard, click the Installation tab, click Browse, choose DisplayMergeNub.kext, and click Install. You will be asked for your password. Once it has finished reboot your Mac.
- (Manual Installation) Open Terminal.app and run the following command
sudo mv $(whoami)/Desktop/DisplayMergeNub.kext /System/Library/Extensions/ && sudo reboot
. You will be asked for your password, and your Mac will automatically reboot as soon as the operation finishes. - Upon rebooting you can go to Apple > About This Mac and under the Displays tab you will find your Mac now considers your external monitor to be your internal monitor, as a result Night Shift should not be auto enabled anymore, and you can now access the Night Shift preference pane from Settings.
A Quick Note
For those who want to reverse this process so that your external monitor is no longer considered a built-in display by your Mac, you can simply run the command
sudo rm /System/Library/Extensions/DisplayMergeNub.kext && sudo reboot
. Mac 301 wash manual. As with the previous command this will ask for your password, and automatically reboot your Mac after the process is finished.
And was told 'costs more to fix than to buy new ones'. Mac mini 2012 service manual. I can find countless repair manuals on a $30,000 vehicle, but you can't get a lousy book on a $1800 Mac??For a company that promises you FREEDOM from Windows, they sure lock you in and then threaten to sue you if you try help yourself or someone else.Bash PC's all you want, but when my motherboard dies, I'll be happy to shell out the measly $100 and be back in business.Sorry for the rant, but I've had 2 iMac's and 3 MacMini's that had Logic board failures.
UPDATE: 01/04/2019As of later versions of macOS 10.13 and all versions of 10.14 external displays are being recognized natively when they are the only connected display. Thus this information should be considered deprecated except to those using a secondary external display, or those running macOS versions 10.12.4-10.13.4

Download Flux. It reliably works on both internal and external monitors.

After trying above solutions without success, I found the 'true tone' setting in 'display settings' of 'system preferences', unchecked it, and external monitor became normal white again. Just in case it may help someone. I have an LG 4k with a USB-C cable.

What worked for me was switching cables. At first I was using a USB-C to HDMI adapter. When I changed the plug to connect the monitor with my MacBook without the adapter it started to work without any issues.

I have 2 UHD 4K 27' LG 27UD88-W USB-C monitors hooked up to my 2017 MacBook Pro w/ Touch Bar via a single Thunderbolt 3 cable. This is achieved by way of an Elgato Thunderbolt 3 dock. (The monitors did not have enough power for the laptop alone and wouldn't offer a reliable single-cable solution.)
I initially had issues with one of the two monitors being recognized reliably. It was always the one connected to the dock via USB-C. (The other connected via DisplayPort.) I figured this was probably some driver issue.
I installed their DualController and OnScreenControl Mac OS software. Both installers required a reboot. The reboot did seem to help. However, I'm not sure if it was the software, the reboot, or both that ultimately fixed my issue with Night Shift failing on both of the monitors. I had already rebooted the system after introducing the Elgato Dock the day before.
The moral being, I'd suggest seeking out any software packages offered by the monitor manufacturer just in case they bundle drivers with them.

Night Shift, the feature first introduced in iOS devices with iOS 9.3, has expanded to the Mac with the release of 10.12.4. Night Shift is compatible with 2012 and newer Macs, so it won't work on older machines. For those unfamiliar with Night Shift, it's designed to cut down on the amount of blue light you're exposed to during the evening by shifting the display of a Mac to a more yellow tone. Blue light is said to have a harmful effect on your circadian rhythm, making it harder to fall asleep and stay asleep.
Studies suggest that eliminating blue light exposure at night might help you sleep just a bit better, but it does significantly change the look of your display. Many Mac users have been using blue light reduction software f.lux for years now, but with Night Shift, there's no need to install an additional app because it's an operating system feature.
Turning On Night Shift
Night Shift's controls can be a little bit difficult to find when you go to use the feature for the first time. The Night Shift options are located in the display section of System Preferences.
- Click on the Apple icon in the menu bar and select System Preferences.
- Choose the 'Displays' icon.
- There are three tabs in this menu: Display, Color, and Night Shift. Choose Night Shift.
- From the 'Schedule' option, choose either 'Sunset to Sunrise' or 'Custom.'
The 'Custom' option lets you choose a specific start and end time for Night Shift to turn on. With a custom setting, it will turn on and off at the same time each night based on the time that you choose.
Adjusting Color Temperature
In the same section System Preferences that's used to turn Night Shift on, there's also an option to adjust the color temperature of the feature to your liking.
By default, the temperature is set to the middle, but if you drag the slider to the left, you'll get more blue light, and if you drag it to the right, you'll get a deeper yellow shade with less blue light.
Apple warns that using the warmer end of the spectrum could affect the appearance of some onscreen motion.
Night Shift Quick Toggle
If you want to manually enable or disable Night Shift, there are two ways to do it. You can use the 'Manual' setting in System Preferences to force Night Shift to turn on, or you can use the Notification Center, which is quicker. For the Notification Center:
- Click on the Notification Center menu bar icon, which is denoted by three lines. It'll open to the Today view.
- Scroll up to the top of the Notification Center.
- Click on the 'Night Shift' toggle to turn the feature on or turn it off.
Siri
Siri, introduced in macOS Sierra, can be used to turn Night Shift on or off. Click the Siri button in the menu bar or the dock and say 'Turn on Night Shift' or 'Turn off Night Shift' to control the Night Shift feature.
External Monitors
Night Shift extends to external displays that are connected to your Mac, shifting the temperature to a warmer tone to match the Mac's display. It is not an individual option that can be applied to a display, but rather mirrors the Mac setting.
Night Shift does not extend to connected televisions or projectors, however, nor does it always work reliably with an external display.
Compatibility
Night Shift works with Macs manufactured in 2012 and later and it is not available on older machines. A full list of devices that support Night Shift is below:
- MacBook (Early 2015 or newer)
- MacBook Air (Mid 2012 or newer)
- MacBook Pro (Mid 2012 or newer)
- Mac mini (Late 2012 or newer)
- iMac (Late 2012 or newer)
- Mac Pro (Late 2013 or newer)
- Apple LED Cinema Display
- Apple Thunderbolt Display
- LG UltraFine 5K Display
- LG UltraFine 4K Display
Limitations
There is no option to toggle Night Shift on and off for specific apps, so if you wanted to be able to do something like turn Night Shift off when you use Photoshop or watch videos, there's no way to do it. It's all or nothing.
